7 lbs!!

I am so excited! We had our 2 week check-up today. Claire was born at 6.13 and had dropped to 6.4 the following week. Our pediatrician put me on a 2 hour feeding schedule to help Claire gain weight. We had a follow up appointment and she was at 6.7. Now today, which is one week later, she has gone up to 7lbs! It was so nice to hear! I was afraid I wasn't feeding her enough or she just wasn't getting what she needed. It was a relief to hear she is doing just fine. She is healthy and happy and so are we! :)

Getting to know you....

It has been an interesting 2 weeks getting used to having a baby around, knowing when to feed and when she is just fighting sleep, and how to get a few winks in ourselves. I wouldn't trade being a parent for anything in the world. Claire can belt a loud cry if she needs something, but it doesn't change how much I love her. I just wish I could create a new product that lets parents know if the cry means: 1) I am hungry 2) I need sleep and am trying to fight it or 3) please change my diaper. I think we have gotten pretty good at figuring out when she needs what. I just know for me it is hard to hear her cry at all. I want everything to be perfect and she wouldn't need to cry!
We love having Claire here with us. It is strange to think just 2 weeks ago we were anticipating her arrival and wondering what it would be like having her around. She is a sweet little thing!!!

Right on time!

Here is our precious angel! I can't believe she came exactly on my due date. It was crazy because I had seen my doctor on Tuesday and he scheduled for me to be induced September 16th because she just didn't seem like she was coming! We went home that evening, had dinner and went for a short walk. I went to bed and woke up around 11:30 with contractions. I started keeping track of them as I realized they were painful and weren't going away. (They said I would know when the "real" ones started!) I woke Chad up at about 3:00 when they were a lot more consistent. I just wanted to take a bath and relax a little. Well, after my bath, my water broke! Chad said, "We're going to the hospital!" We threw our bags in the car and headed that way. I got checked in around 4:15 and then spent the LONG day in labor. She came that evening at 7:49 and stole my heart the minute I saw her. What an amazing experience!

She's Here!!

Claire Madeline is here! She was born 09/09/09 at 7:49pm 6 lbs 13 oz and 20 inches long

Nursery

Well, we had to basically start from scratch to do the nursery. Thankfully Chad is great at doing home renovations, so he was able to get it all done. He re-textured the ceiling, put in new baseboards and a ceiling fan. We painted everything and finally got the furniture in. We are really happy with how it has turned out so far. We have a couple of things to hang up and a few items to buy, but it is almost done. Yeah!

Summer

This is just a pic of us from our summer trip down to Galveston. Some of my friends have referred to it as our "babymoon." It was a lot of fun!
